It Seems that Queers Pay Taxes Too and Then Some

Newport Beach, CA (Feb 19, 2007) ‘“ Queercents (http://www.queercents.com), a personal finance blog serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, today announced the launch of its weekly series called Money Mondays running throughout tax season.

The series, written by Allison Einbinder, is intended to help the queer community navigate the complex world of taxes which is further compounded by the uniqueness of our LGBT lives.

As a Queercents contributor, Ms. Einbinder writes in a practical, hands-on way about tax planning and preparation. She provides tips to help the queer community flourish and reach its financial goals.

At the beginning of each week, Money Mondays will cover such topics as:

  • How to choose a tax preparer.
  • How much will you pay in fees to have your returns prepared?
  • What are the benefits of E-filing and other filing options?
  • What if you purchased a home?
  • How does expanding your family with children impact you at tax time?
  • What happens when you are self-employed?
  • How to treat investments and retirement accounts.

Ms. Einbinder is an accountant in private practice in Oakland, CA. She is licensed by the California Tax Education Council and is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals.
