Holly Wagg QueercentsHolly Wagg likes money and talking about money.   She likes to look at her portfolio and watch things grow.   She’s a finance hack who has learned mostly through what-not-to-do experiences.   As a Canadian, she’s had to spend some of her early financial explorations uncovering north of the 49th parallel lingo like RRSP, RESP and TFSA to make sense of her own financial matters.

Holly has over a decade of extensive experience working in a leadership capacity in the not-for-profit sector. As a seasoned communications professional, she recently transitioned her 8-year long communications and marketing career to focus on fundraising for ArtsSmarts, a national charity that uses an artist-teacher collaboration model to bring the arts into classrooms as a way to engage kids in learning core curricula.

In 2004 Holly co-founded the Ten Oaks Project which engages and connects children and youth of LGBTQ communities through programs and activities rooted in play.   After 5 years as President of the Board, where she led the volunteer-driven organization like it was her full-time job, she handed over the reins and took early retirement.   Now, she’s investing some of her newly found spare time in starting up a Post-Adoption Support Group for LGBTQ Parents in Ottawa having adopted two children now ages 11 and 13 with her wife in 2007.

Holly’s lifelong ambition is to be a philanthropist.   She can’t think of anything better than giving inspiring and life-altering not-for-for profits the dollars they so desperately need to carry out their good work.   But since she opted to pursue a career path in the voluntary sector, she realizes that this aspiration is highly unlikely to ever get checked off her ‘œbucket list.’

You can find Holly on Facebook a lot.   She’s also sorta into Twitter.   And, she only briefly experimented with LinkedIn, which didn’t really catch on.
