We get asked all the time our favorite credit card for traveling with points or miles especially for summer pride and festival dates. If you have a travel card in your wallet, but you’re looking for more lucrative travel benefits? We have found the perfect travel credit card to add to your wallet.

Most major banks and card companies like Chase, Barclays, Bank of America, or American Express offer a variety of credit cards designed for frequent travelers. The offering ranges from cards that earn points and miles for spending on normal purchases to those that offer elevated benefits like free airport lounge access or hundreds of dollars in free travel credits and sign-up bonuses. Most travel cards allow you to redeem your points and miles on travel for things like flights, cruises, rental cars or hotels.

We personally have the Venture X card and have used it since they launched in 2021. We applied when it first came out and by taking advantage of all the travel benefits, we covered the $395 annual fee 5x over. With the travel credits, welcome bonus, and airport lounge access the card has more than paid for itself. Additionally, this card does not charge foreign transaction fees like many credit cards typically charge (usually 3% of each purchase). That means you can use it for all your travel abroad and not incur hidden fees.

Card Details:  Earn 75,000 bonus miles after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Annual fee: $395. Click here for more details or to apply. Only valid for US residents.

Top 5 Travel Benefits of Venture X

The Venture X card makes using its benefits easier than other premium travel cards such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve or the American Express Platinum card. Check out these top 5 benefits below.

Unlimited Rewards

$750 Welcome Bonus Offer (75,000 miles)

Earn 75,000 bonus miles after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Your miles won’t expire for the life of the account, so they’re always there when you need them. Plus, there are no blackout dates. You can use your Venture X miles to easily cover travel expenses, including flights, hotels, rental cars and more—plus transfer miles to your choice of 15+ travel loyalty programs.

$300 Annual Travel Credit

Receive up to $300 back as statement credits for bookings made through Capital One Travel, where you’ll get great prices on thousands of travel options. This counts toward purchases including hotel bookings, car rentals, and airfare. The benefit is automatic as long as you spend the $300 via the travel portal each year.

Global Airport Lounge Access ($400 value)

All Venture X cardholders can register for Priority Pass and access over 1,400 airport lounges worldwide. You’re allowed to bring two guests with you for free on each lounge visit. This membership alone normally costs $429 per year if purchased from Priority Pass directly.

$100 Annual Bonus Offer (10,000 miles)

You’ll receive extra bonus miles on your card opening anniversary date. The $100 bonus is automatically delivered to your account as 10,000 miles and will repeat each year, starting on your first anniversary. You can redeem these miles through the Capital One Travel portal.

The Venture X card includes many additional benefits but the top 5 above are the most valuable in our opinion. These extra benefits include rental car status and insurance, Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credits, travel insurance, cell phone protection plus purchase, extended warranty and return protection.

Should You Apply for the Venture X Card?

As we’ve mentioned above, Venture X is a premium rewards credit card designed for frequent travelers who want an elevated travel experience without having to pay a high annual fee. Other similar cards from Chase ($550) and American Express ($700) charge much more annually to keep the card. There are other cards out there such as the Discover IT card that are better for everyday purchases and 5% categories.

If you have good credit, you’re a frequent traveler and you’re savvy with points and miles, this is a great card for you and one that is well worth the value by simply using just a few of the card’s most lucrative benefits. Some people may choose to cancel the card after the first year once they receive the 75,000 miles bonus, but it’s worth it to consider keeping it long-term since the annual benefits easily outweigh the annual fee of $395 (less than $95 after travel credit and $0 after 10,000 in miles each year).

We personally have the Venture X card and have used it since 2021. We applied when it first came out and by taking advantage of all the travel benefits, we paid back the $395 annual fee easily. In fact, we’ve received a value of about $2,000 in free travel from this card in the first year, nearly 5x the cost of the annual fee.

If you’re not a frequent traveler and you don’t really like tracking points and booking trips with miles, this card is probably not for you. Additionally, if you don’t think you can meet the spending requirement of $4,000 in the first 3 months, then you won’t get the 75,000 sign-up bonus and it’s probably not worth applying for the card either.
