John Montesdeoca QueercentsRiddled with an over-achieving temperament and an attention span that thrives on chaos, John aspired to follow in the footsteps of his literary hero, Anton Chekhov, who penned stunning plays and short stories, yet was also a practicing physician. John foolishly hoped to achieve the same publishing success, only as a psychologist or lawyer instead. After some unsatisfying stints in the mental health field and law, John realized he didn’t care enough about either profession to pursue graduate school. After much despair and worry about his future, John came to understand he is much more like his father than he would like to admit, and is better suited to owning his own business. Since John naturally found himself spending hours upon hours in the coffee shops of San Francisco, writing, reading or studying, the solution for John couldn’t be any more clear — open his own cafe someday soon.

The pursuit of start-up capital awakened John to another passion in his life: finance. As soon as John’s earning power spiked up, he rushed to learn about money as fast as he could. A class on the fundamentals of finance opened John’s eyes to the error of his ways, and he became addicted to the language of money. He now spends less time reading trashy gossip columns, and more time on anything and everything having to do with personal finance.

John and his partner Zachary live in domestic bliss in San Francisco. Zachary is a PhD. candidate in chemistry at UC Berkeley, and both John and Zachary eagerly await the completion of Zachary’s dissertation to determine where life takes them next. In the meantime, John and Zachary live happily ever after and as creatively as possible on their strict budget.
