Hyatt has launched a sale on paid stays called “Stay As You Are.” The promotion offers offers up to 20% off room rates by using the code PRIDE. I’m often skeptical when the “up to” qualifier is used, but there appears to be at least some good deals out there.

The Deal

  • Save up to 20% on Hyatt stays when using promo code PRIDE (enter code in ‘Special Offer Code’ field).
  • No expiration date listed, but it seemed as though it applies to the entire calendar at participating properties.

Quick Thoughts

This Hyatt sale offers 20% off the standard rate, which is rarely the lowest rate available. There are often cheaper non-refundable rates that require advance purchase as well as Hyatt member rate options that are refundable.

It doesn’t specify which hotels are participating, but I looked at approximately 40 hotels across 5 cities and found 22 hotels that were participating.

I did find some properties where the PRIDE code was actually the lowest rate by 20%. For instance, I’m going to Calgary this weekend, which has two Hyatt properties: a Hyatt Place by the airport and a Hyatt Regency right in the center of downtown. The Hyatt Place wasn’t participating (like most Hyatt Places that I saw), but the the PRIDE rate offered 20% off at the Hyatt Regency:

Note though, that this particular hotel doesn’t offer Advance Purchase or Member Rates. The Thompson in Denver is participating in the promotion, but because it does offer the other discounted rates, the PRIDE discount is still the lowest rate, but only by about 4%:

And then there’s still more hotels that are “participating,” but the PRIDE rate is actually HIGHER than both the Member and the Member Advance Purchase rates, like the Hyatt Centric Downtown Denver:

Out of the the ~40 hotels that I checked, my guess is that the PRIDE rate was cheaper than the otherwise lowest rate approximately 25-30% of the time (including hotels that aren’t particpating in the promotion at all).

That said, it’s definitely worth checking it out if you have any Hyatt stays planned or booked. Note that, like many Hyatt promotions, a one-night deposit is taken at the time of booking. This is refundable so long as the reservation is cancelled at least 72 hours in advance of the stay.
