“Age considers; youth ventures.” – Rabindranath Tagore

Erin Allard is the newest member of the Queercents team to join as contributing writer. Erin is an 18-year-old college student working towards a double major in English and women’s studies. She’s a feminist, aspiring entrepreneur and brings a fresh perspective on money currently not covered in our day to day blog entries.

Erin AllardCase in point… when Erin first phoned, the Caller ID indicated that her mobile number was registered in the name of a man. I remember thinking, wow, she’s young… her father must still have her on the family plan with his service provider. I didn’t ask if he pays the bill since that’s Erin’s story to tell, but the point is that she’s in a different phase of life than the rest of us at Queercents.

Erin attends college and that provides a host of money issues. Isn’t that when most of us applied for our first credit card? College students are often new to the world of personal finance and establishing and managing credit is typically how they dip their toe in the water.

I look forward to hearing what’s working for her as well as what’s influenced her financial literacy. Plus, I’m sure we have plenty of younger readers who can relate!

Erin’s bio can be found at her About Erin page and her feminist blog is called: Burn the Bikinis! Please welcome her.
