James Roy is an electrical engineer by day, music artist by night and now a Queercents contributor in between. His interest in personal finance is a new one – as recently as the summer of 2008, he began reading finance books and blogs, he started tracking his expenses, and he looked for ways to cut costs and reduce his debt.   In six months, he slashed his non-mortgage debt in half and he hopes to eliminate it by the end of 2009.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he now lives in Denver with his husband Jonathan in a tiny 650 square foot one-bedroom condo. Already tight enough for two people, his condo also acts as a studio and business office for his music label, Blue Disco Records, Ltd.

James is best known for his dance hit, ‘˜Rise Above’, which reached the Top 40 National Club Charts on DJ Times, was played daily on satellite radio, and his pro-gay marriage music video was voted into LOGO’s ‘œThe Click List: Top 10 Videos’.   His first full-length release, begin, earned him the title of ‘œThe New King of Dance Music’ at About.com.
