It’s been more than two decades since the popular sitcom, Golden Girls, went off the air, but Ardmore native Lori Harrison is keeping the spirit of the show alive through an Airbnb house with a Golden Girls theme.

It is not just any house, but one built on the property of Rue McClanahan’s childhood home.

McClanahan, born in Healdton and raised in Ardmore, played Blanche Deveraux on the show. Harrison said her family owned the house for several years but got the idea to do something special about a year ago.

“And as I started to fix it up, it just seemed natural to fix it up like the Golden Girl guest house and that’s what’s it’s become,” Harrison said.

Harrison said the house is not meant to be a replica of the show’s set but an homage to each of the show’s characters, with banana leaves and wicker furniture.

Only one problem. Because there are only three bedrooms they left Dorothy out but they honored Blanche and Rose and Sophia with each room having its own theme. It’s Blanche’s Boudoir and Rose’s Room and Sophia’s Suite..
